The Unstuck Church

Speaker: Mark Bargaehr with Tony Morgan

Think about your church for a moment. Is it growing? Is it diminishing? Is it somewhere in between? Tony has identified the seven stages of a church’s lifecycle that range from the hopeful and optimistic days of launch, to the stagnating last stages of life support. Regardless of the stage in which you find your church, it carries with it the world’s greatest mission — to “go and make disciples of all the nations . . .”

With eternity at stake, the Church should be doing most everything within its power to see lives changed forever. The Church should strive for the pinnacle of the lifecycle, where they are continually making new disciples and experiencing what Morgan refers to as “sustained health.”

In this talk, Tony unpacks the lifecycle of a typical church, identifies characteristics of each phase, and provides practical next steps a church can take to move towards sustained health. The Unstuck Church is a call for honest an assessment of where your church sits on the lifecycle, and a challenge to move beyond it.

Tony Morgan: For 14 years, Tony served on the senior leadership teams at West Ridge Church (Dallas, GA), NewSpring Church (Anderson, SC) and Granger Community Church (Granger, IN). He’s written several books and articles that have been featured with the Willow Creek Association, Catalyst and Pastors.com.

Mark Bargaehr: Mark is an ordained minister with dual Masters Degrees in Business Administration and Divinity. He serves as the Church Health Lead for Transformation Ministries helping coach, resource and encourage churches towards ever greater Kingdom impact, health and spiritual vitality. He lives in San Clemente with his wife Vikki; they have four children, and three grandchildren.

Becoming a Multiplying Church

Speaker: Josh Husmann

What if your team could start a church that starts 15 new churches in 9 years? What if you could do this and it actually leads to greater growth for your original church? What if the original church experienced God using them in this capacity, while giving away away 50% of their total giving and outgrowing the facility they purchased in the process? What if you genuinely reach those far from God and didn’t just grow from transfer growth? It’s all possible, but comes with GREAT sacrifice. Hear how Mercy Road Church has experienced God’s Kingdom expanding and you could too!

Questions to consider:

1. How do we engage those far from God?
2. What’s our plan for discipleship and leadership pipeline?
3. Why choose multiplication and what sacred cows will we have to give up in the process?
4. How do we connect and empower apostolic leaders to create an underground network of micro-churches?
(Why this question? That’s how Mercy Road has reached many unchurched communities.)
5. How do we fund a multiplying church focused on extreme generosity?
6. How do we learn to dream again after disappointment?
7. How do we recognize the God opportunities in front of us?

Josh is the founding pastor of Mercy Road Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mercy Road has become one of the fastest growing churches in Indiana, expanding to 500+ after their first 3 years, whose original members were mostly unchurched and broken people. They recently purchased and renovated a 24,000 square foot former Borders bookstore, transforming it into their new campus. Josh is married to his beautiful wife Lisa, and is dad to Jake, Jaxton, Jenna, and Jet.  For more information on Mercy Road Church, check out mercyroad.cc or watch live on Sundays at mercyroad.tv.
